After a week of being sick, I’m finally feeling feeling like i’m getting back on track!
I present to you MRPX – Manufacturing made easy… Well, kind of – the contact management modules at least.

I’ve chosen to build this app on top of the PERN stack using Google’s Material UI interface for the frontend – It’s open-source, and I love free! So far, it’s been awesome to use. I primarily made this video to serve as an accountability check-in for my future self – ha-ha. The real demonstration is coming later this year as I continue to develop the planning and scheduling modules. As of right now, I’ve only stood up parts of the customer record management modules as you can see in the video – still several months away from a viable product. I’m ecstatic to continue development on this one!

That’s great, but what’s it going to actually do?
MRPX is destined to be a SaaS Web App that serves as a Material Resource and Planning (MRP) solution that checks a few critical boxes required for any new or growing product manufacturer. It will help manufacturing teams easily track customers, contacts, orders, inventory, and engineering (multi-layered bills of material). You will enter orders and due dates, and this app will help you purchase inventory levels around your production schedule. Helping teams purchase just the right amount of materials to meet order demand without over purchasing – that could result in fluctuating material costs and unwanted price adjustments. Oh, have I mentioned it will have a ton of sweet dashboards providing snapshot overviews, key manufacturing metrics, and order statuses for your sales teams, manufacturing leads, and company execs?
That’s also great, but don’t these things already exist.
Of course! MRPX is aimed at helping the manufacturer that’s producing a large volume of variety products, but can’t afford the large up-front costs associated with implementing a complex MRP solution that requires years of infrastructure planning and training. Not to mention that complex MRP solution implementations can easily range from $500k+ and involve copious amounts of training for your team. MRPX is going to be self-help and fully documented, providing helpful insights into your products, cost modeling, and manufacturing processes.
